A fee deadline before payday
School term fees, exam registrations and course instalments come with fixed deadlines, and some institutions add a late fee or a re-admission charge after them. If the deadline falls a few days before your salary, a short loan can be cheaper than the penalty. Compare the two first.
Borrow smart: our advice
- Compare the penalty with the loan's total cost, including the processing fee. Borrow only if the penalty is bigger.
- For multi-year courses, an education loan from a bank is the better product.
- Keep fee receipts. They help with tax deductions under Section 80C for school tuition.

FAQs
Education Fees loan FAQs
When is borrowing for a fee worth it?
When the late fee or re-admission charge is higher than the loan's total cost. A ₹8,000 loan for 30 days costs ₹228 in all, including the fee.
Is the money paid to the school or college?
No. It is paid into your bank account, and you pay the institution yourself, so keep the fee receipt.
Can I use it for coaching, exam or certification fees?
Yes. Any fee you need to pay before salary day, such as an exam registration or a course instalment, is fine.
Is this an education loan?
No. It is a short-term personal loan repaid in one payment within 365 days. For a full degree or a multi-year course, a bank education loan is the right product.
